The National Memorial to the Winter War ("He Who Brings the Light" or Valontuoja)
Created by artist Pekka Kauhanen in 2017, it represents the heavy sacrifices made during the 1939 105-day war which began with a Soviet invasion of Finland and ended with the Moscow Peace Treaty in 1940. It commemorates the more than 25,000 Finns who gave their lives for their country. The monument has holes to symbolize the damage caused by cannon fire while inner lighting makes the monument glow.
